Brent Braun is the wine director at Portland’s finest fine-dining establishment Castagna (though you’ll never see him in a suit) and half the genius behind sibling restaurant OK Omens, where he introduced Portland to the wine shot; (I mean, seriously, it’s about time). Other people think he’s cool too: he was named one of Food & Wine magazine’s sommeliers of the year in 2017 and a Starchef rising star in 2018.
Anywho, the most important thing is that he (like Martin) is one of German wines’ biggest fans. In this Q&A class, Brent will be pouring four German wines that might challenge your perceptions of the region. He’ll also be answering your questions about how to navigate a restaurant wine list and why German wine is so damned underrated—as well as anything else you can think of to ask Portland’s finest wine brains.
As per usual, a glass of unique and delicious (and appropriately German) bubbles will precede our flight of especially selected German wines.
